“I wanted someone to stand up for me”
Rupa Subramaniam lost both her parents, and that’s when her protection from the external world collapsed. She desperately tried to make a home in others, but such safe ground required a compromise she couldn’t afford. Imagine sacrificing all that made her feel alive.

She left her corporate role as a digital media planner that she began in 2009 for the fearless pursuit of passion in arts and advocacy, inspired by and for her community.
Her work has since 2014, has been supported by individuals, digital communities, art institutions, and human rights organizations, in Malaysia and internationally. Rupa’s work now focuses on promoting acceptance of liberation for Malaysian women, especially within marginalized communities to attain conscious collectivism.
